Japan’s economy won’t be affected much by global trade tensions. While the Bank of Japan has signaled a pause in its tightening cycle, we think the Board is underestimating the strength of inflationary pressures. We still expect another rate hike in July with the Bank’s policy rate set to reach 1.5% by 2027.
